Marcia Palmer

Marcia Palmer's oil paintings embody her view of everyday life. In her work she takes daily scenes and explores the intricacies that can make them captivating. She says, "It's so easy to overlook the beauty in the details of things we see every day. I like to freeze-frame an image in an organic way and for the viewer to be able to connect with my work through its comfortable familiarity."

Of her style, Marcia says, "I appreciate many styles of art; however, realism is instinctive and what I have always been drawn to visually. My interest in photography has been influential - encouraging experimentation with light and vantage points."

Marcia Palmer started painting with oils in college and never looked back. "Oils are perfect for the type of detailed work I like to do. Creating texture is important to me in my paintings. It is often the contrasts in texture that make a painting dynamic, and oils are conducive to this creative process."

A native of Frederick County, Maryland, Marcia received her Art Education degree from Shepherd University. Her passion has always been in painting; however, her career took her on a different path. While managing her career, she continued to study classical oil painting with nationally recognized artist, David Zuccarini. Palmer has recently retired and is enjoying a renewed focus on her art.

Her work has received numerous awards and appeared in both local and national exhibitions.
