MARGARET HUDDY
Margaret Huddy is an award winning painter who was born in Philadelphia, PA and studied there at the University of the Arts and Moore College of Art. She currently resides in Frederick, MD and has a studio in her home. For 34 years Margaret maintained a studio at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia where she welcomed the public and showed her work.
Margaret Huddy’s luminous realistic watercolors capture the play of light on land and cityscapes. Plein air painting is her passion. In recent years, Margaret has also experimented with acrylic paint and returned to portraiture after a long hiatus when she moved to Frederick.
Margaret says ,”I believe that my purpose as an artist is to show people that there is still beauty in this world despite the daily dose of disheartening news.”
Huddy taught watercolor at the Corcoran College of Art, The Art League School and took students around the world on painting expeditions. More recently she taught on the Cunard Line cruise ship Queen Victoria.
Margaret’s work has been featured in many group and solo exhibitions including The Carnegie Museum, Oxnard, CA, The Chrysler Museum, Norfolk, VA, The Butler Institute of American Art Youngstown, OH, Watercolor USA, Springfield, MO and the National Museum of Japan in Tokyo. Her paintings are included in public collections in the USA, Beijing, China, Sierra Leone and Botswana and in private collections around the world.
